My name is Nate Westerfield, and I am the Worship/Creative Arts Pastor at Great Oaks Community Church in Germantown Hills, IL. I am a local boy who grew up in a town only 8 minutes away. God has taken me on an unorthodox path to get me where He has me now, but I cannot thank Him enough for the things I have learned and the opportunities I have had.

I am a brain tumor survivor. In February of 2004, I was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma (pituitary tumor). From the diagnosis of my tumor things moved rapidly, undergoing surgery to remove a majority of the tumor and then to proceed with radiation therapy to kill the remaining parts of the tumor. To this day, I am tumor free, and I cannot thank God enough! I have a lovely wife Kalee and three amazing boys Parker, Camden and Hudson.

All the thoughts and comments I may share on this blog are all my own, they are not representative of Great Oaks Community Church, but I only ask that you read, reflect and if something strikes you, please let me know about it.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.
